History

Upon returning home from World War II, Al Simon had a vision and a dream. Having lived through the Great Depression, and surviving the worse economic disaster in US history, he knew he had one chance to build a future in the worst of times. In May of 1948, he became the sole proprietor of a mom and pop hardware store in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. After 40 years of a successful retail business, he saw the opportunity to expand his horizons and his inventory, and reestablished Simon's Industrial Supply, as a wholesale distributor of janitorial, facility maintenance, and paper products. In 1983, his son Mark joined the company, followed by his grandson Eric, who continues to grow and uphold the family legacy. Al Simon, although no longer a part of the daily operations of the business, still remains active and involved in the company he founded almost 70 years ago.
